The MODBUS protocol is a communication protocol that enables data exchange between a master and several slaves. The open protocol is nowadays the industry standard for the connection of automation and field devices. Due to the multivendor data structure, communication between devices from different manufacturers is no problem.

Modbus is available in two versions: one for the serial interface (Modbus RTU, ASCII) and one for ETHERNET (Modbus TCP).

With the IPC@CHIP® Modbus library you get the possibility to use a proven Modbus implementation for the IPC@CHIP platform simply and with minimal effort.
