This type specifies a text encoding.

If this text encoding is active, text will be decoded according to the ASCII standard. Since characters from the range 0x80..0xFF are not defined in the ASCII standard, their translation will depend on the specific character set used when creating the used font.

If for example the IPC@CHIP® Graphic File Converter for Windows® was used to create the font, the Windows® code page (for example CP 1252 for Western Europe) will determine how these characters will be translated.


If this text encoding is active, text is expected to be UTF-8 encoded. Decoding will result in 21 bit code points that will be translated according to the Unicode standard.
