Whilst Wireless LAN is ideally suited for wireless data exchange between the individual mobile devices and higher-level control systems, the Bluetooth standard is ideal as a wireless operating and service interface for IP65 or IP67 protected devices or devices where access is difficult during operation.
Nowadays, many laptops, PDAs and mobile phones already come with a Bluetooth interface as a standard feature so that only an operating software is required for turning them into versatile service devices. The Bluetooth solution for the IPC@CHIP® is based on an external module that is linked via COM. The function kit for DK61 and DK55 with all the drivers required to make application development fast and easy will be available as a series product in 2008.
