With its comprehensive configuration containing modern communication interfaces the IPC@CHIP® masters even complex communication tasks. The real-time / multi-tasking Operating System ensures that the real-time does not fall too short. Thus, for example, time-critical control tasks and modern IT communication can be combined without any problems within a single controller. The integrated industrial field bus interfaces and protocols, such as, for example, CANopen and industrial Ethernet in combination with a host of Internet and IT protocols, make the use of the IPC@CHIP® particularly interesting when industrial communication and IT communication are required side by side.

Wireless LAN
Subsequent to Ethernet having carved its place in automation technology, it is now the time for wireless technologies such as wireless LAN and Bluetooth. Owing to its transparent TCP/IP communication and the high bandwidth and security as compared to other local wireless technologies, wireless LAN offers an ideal alternative if wired Ethernet connections are unsuitable or very expensive. With the IPC@CHIP® wireless LAN module WL01, the extension of the IPC@CHIP® for a wireless LAN interface does not require much more effort as the implementation of an Ethernet interface.

RTOS Architecture
The modern real-time/multi-tasking operating system (IPC@CHIP® RTOS) comes preinstalled on all IPC@CHIP® Controllers, contains a full-featured TCP/IP stack, and ensures secure communication via telephone networks or the Internet using PPP, PPPoE and SSL/SSH encryption.
The integrated API interface enables the user application to access all the hardware and software functions of the IPC@CHIP® and at the same time provides the software compatibility for the different controller types.
