1. openVPN for IPC@CHIP® SC243

The free software "OpenVPN" as the solution for the installation of a virtual private network (VPN) has gained more and more popularity among its users. Easy installation and configuration of an OpenVPN-tunnel, in comparison to the complicated configuration of the IPsec eases access to this topic. The OpenVPN source code, registered under GNU General Public License (GPL) has been ported by Beck for the IPC@CHIP® platform and is made available at our download centre for implementation on SC243.

2. WL03 Wireless Controller for IPC@CHIP®

Starting summer of 2010 the WLAN Controller WL03 is available as IPC@CHIP® ADD-ON module.

The WL03 module is pin-compatible with the previous model WL01. It may be implemented as so-called "drop-in replacement" into existing hardware designs with WL01. Unlike the hardware, the software components (driver and API), however, are not compatible. Due to the different chip sets and firmware of the modules it became necessary to establish a new driver library for the WL03, having a similar (but not identical) API. The provided WL03 driver software package includes application samples in source code for IPC@CHIP SC1x3/SC2x and SC243, as well as detailed HTML API documentation.

For test and evaluation purposes a starter kit for the DK61/DB55 is at your disposal.

The next driver release is scheduled for October 2010. It will include e.g. standard driver Applications, with a convenient Web configuration interface.

3. Trade Fair SPS/IPC/Drives 2010

From 23-25 November, 2010, the annual SPS/IPC/Drives takes place in Nurnberg and, - as every year, - Beck IPC will participate.

Focuses are:
  • Smart Metering - Beck combines IPC@CHIP® technology with M-Bus. The result: Efficient and intelligent solution approaches for meter readout.
  • com.tom - the communication experts! Open Gateways for WEB Enabling Technology, with Com.tom portal, the global availability of systems for facilities, systems and processes as an integrated system.
  • Energy Solutions - Smart Grid with IEC 61850, as Embedded System for the first time, also implementable for existing applications.
Visit us in hall 9, stand 341. We are looking forward to welcoming you!

4. Pre-Announcement: M-Bus as IPC@CHIP® Add-on and com.tom M-Bus available starting November

A new Add-On module for the IPC@CHIP®. The M-Bus is a standardized system for the readout of power- and consumer meters and other end-devices or actors, thus an important milestone of today's energy market and its new demands for intelligent power management. The combination with the IPC@CHIP® technology offers many development options to cope with the increasing new demands of the energy market.

This new module will be available as quick-start function and for evaluation purposes as well as individual module for your embedded applications of the IPC@CHIP®

5. Workshop IEC 61850/IEC 61400-25

The worldwide successful standards of series IEC 61850 (control rooms, energy generation, distribution networks) and IEC 61400-25 (wind energy plants) define comprehensive information models, mechanisms for data exchange, a configuration language and illustrations on universal transmission protocols. They offer an architecture intergratable for many fields of application.

The so-far intense time- and money consumption in the realization of IEC 61850 in control units and other devices has thwarted the broad application in low-voltage levels and energy generation. Since the Hannover exhibition in 2010, however, an economic ideal solution on the basis of Beck IPC@CHIP® is at hand, enabling the development of standard-compliant interfaces in energy supply for real-time applications within a short period of time.

This workshop provides the most important steps to a fast and economic implementation of IEC 61850 and IEC 61400-25-conform devices and systems.
